Kensington Oval sits on the edge of Bridgetown, and the capital's road network was not designed for thirteen thousand people arriving inside the same ninety minutes. On an international match day, traffic on the ABC Highway, Spring Garden Highway and Fontabelle backs up well before the first ball, parking near the ground disappears early, and after the last over everyone leaves at once. Booking a private vehicle solves the two hard parts: an approach route chosen by a driver who does it regularly, and a guaranteed ride afterwards at a fare agreed in advance. It also means you can enjoy a rum punch in the Party Stand without thinking about how you are getting back. We watch the scoreboard — if the game finishes early, or runs deep into a Test session, we adjust and your driver is there.
- ★Fixed fare per vehicle, agreed before the match — no surge pricing after play
- ★Drop-off close to your stand entrance rather than a long walk in
- ★Guaranteed pickup at close of play, adjusted if the match ends early or late
- ★No parking hunt and no drink-driving decision
- ★One vehicle keeps your whole group together, coming and going
Kensington Oval has staged international cricket since 1930, when it hosted the West Indies' first ever home Test. It was rebuilt for the 2007 Cricket World Cup final and now holds around 13,000 for internationals, with the Hall of Fame Stand, the 3Ws Stand, the Greenidge & Haynes Stand and the Worrell, Weekes & Walcott names embedded in the ground's identity. The calendar typically brings Test matches and white-ball internationals in the first half of the year, Caribbean Premier League T20 fixtures for the Barbados Royals in the late-summer window, and regional four-day and 50-over cricket in between. It also hosts concerts and Crop Over events. Whatever is on, the match-day rhythm is the same: gates open a couple of hours before play, the Party Stand is loud from the first over, and the crowd spills into Bridgetown afterwards.
- ★Test matches, ODIs and T20 Internationals featuring the West Indies
- ★Caribbean Premier League fixtures for the Barbados Royals
- ★Regional and domestic cricket through the season
- ★Capacity around 13,000 for internationals
- ★Concerts and Crop Over events outside the cricket calendar
We collect from anywhere on the island. From the South Coast — St. Lawrence Gap, Dover, Worthing, Rockley, Hastings, Maxwell and Oistins — allow twenty to thirty minutes on a normal day and longer on a big one. From the West Coast, Holetown and Sandy Lane are thirty to forty minutes, Mullins and Speightstown forty to fifty-five. The Bridgetown cruise terminal is barely ten minutes away, which makes a day at the cricket an unusually easy shore excursion when a fixture lands on a port day. Our standing advice is to leave your hotel about two and a half hours before the first ball for an international: you clear the traffic, get through the gate without queueing and have time to eat inside. For the return we agree a meeting point away from the main exit crush, so your driver can reach you quickly.
- ★South Coast hotels — 20 to 30 minutes, longer on match day
- ★Holetown and Sandy Lane — 30 to 40 minutes
- ★Mullins, Speightstown, Port St. Charles — 40 to 55 minutes
- ★Bridgetown cruise terminal — about 10 minutes
- ★Grantley Adams Airport (BGI) — 25 to 35 minutes
- ★Leave roughly 2.5 hours before the first ball of an international
Barbados fills with touring supporters whenever England, Australia, India or a CPL crowd is in town, and moving fifteen or twenty people around the island in taxis one at a time is expensive and slow. The 13-seat Toyota HiAce luxury van is built for this: air-conditioned, comfortable on the longer west coast runs, with room for bags, flags and coolers. We run several vehicles in convoy for bigger parties and keep the same drivers across a tour so your group is not re-explaining the plan every morning. Beyond the cricket we handle the rest of the itinerary too — airport arrivals, an island tour on a rest day, the Mount Gay distillery, Oistins on a Friday and evening runs into St. Lawrence Gap. Send Anthony the fixture list and the group size and he will price the week as a whole.
- ★13-seat Toyota HiAce luxury van with air conditioning and luggage space
- ★Multiple vehicles in convoy for larger supporters' groups
- ★Consistent drivers across a whole tour
- ★Airport arrivals and departures for the full party
- ★Rest-day island tours, rum distillery visits and evening runs
- ★Whole-week pricing on request
Kensington Oval is a ten-minute drive from the Bridgetown cruise terminal and walking distance from Brandons and Brighton beaches, so there is plenty to build around a match. Before play, a run along the Spring Garden Highway or a stop at the Garrison Savannah historic area works well. After stumps, the crowd heads into Bridgetown or down to the South Coast, and on a Friday the Oistins Fish Fry is the natural finish to a cricket day. If you have a non-cricketing half of the party, we can drop them at a west coast beach or take them on an island tour while the rest are at the ground, then bring everyone back together in the evening. It all runs from the same booking and the same driver.
- ★Brandons and Brighton beaches within minutes of the ground
- ★Garrison Savannah UNESCO historic area nearby
- ★Post-match runs into Bridgetown or the South Coast
- ★Oistins Fish Fry on a Friday after close of play
- ★Split the party: cricket for some, island tour or beach for others
